Solomon in his old age must have taken the time to do much thinking. In chapter four of Ecclesiastes we read: 4. Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from one person’s envy of another. This also is vanity and a chasing after the wind. 5. Fools fold their hands and consume their own flesh. 6. Better is a handful with quiet than two handfuls with toil and a chasing after wind.
There are other verses in this chapter about how two are better than one because they can help each other. Then I found the following…
13. “Better is a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king, who will no longer take advice.”
This might be good advice for some of the leaders of today. However, I am sure the converse of that saying might also be true.
In the meantime, have a Happy Thanksgiving or if not in the USA, have a happy final few days of fall. The sun is shining here in South Dakota, but the air is crisp. Life is good because we are heading for my sister’s house for Thanksgiving supper, our newest grandson was born this morning in Dickinson. The only sad part of the day is that our oldest daughter was not able to join us today because she is home with “her” Tony who has pneumonia. At least he was seen by a Dr. and is currently on medication. Hope you are feeling better soon. Prayers going out to you today.
