Looking for you around!

I have been wondering if a little girl has been searching for some lost items saying, “looking for you around.” This was a comment made by one of the older daughters way back when. She was trying to find someone, and out of her mouth came, “I have been looking for you around.” Saying things backwards, as in inverting the subject and predicate is a common colloquialism in our area. It comes from the way the Germans from Russia spoke when they frontiered in the area and began learning English. I have not studied either language enough to know if it was a product of their home area or just an issue during the time of translation.

At any rate, I have a couple of items that were left behind at the last visit of Ana and her family. I have pictures of her things, plus there were a couple of pillows found in a back bedroom today. I will try to remember to pack all of them up and take them along next month when we get to attend the big birthday party. Of course if we meet in Bismarck for a Saturday at Ragging Rivers Water Park I could bring them then.

It has been warm and hazy around here today. We worked in the garden a bit this afternoon (lucindagardens@wordpress.com). There was no additional rain last night, but it was dewy and the moon was bright orange. The entire sky has a weird look because of the smoke coming through from the fires in Canada. Yesterday wasn’t so bad, but today you can smell it. Jessica just called and said in Jamestown it is affecting the visibility. She was hoping they would get away from it by coming here for the weekend. No such luck. Good time to be inside.

In the post last night about all the rain, I left out a picture. In many places as we walk, we are noticing mushrooms growing in the grass. I am not sure if it is a sign that we have too much decayed material in the lawn, or just a sign of things being pretty wet.

Plans for tonight, if we get all things finished. Actually if I get my Sunday morning message finished up, we will pull out the projector and watch another movie or perhaps a few episodes of Numbers. We are hoping to make this a regular Friday night event. There will be no invitations, but if someone wants to join they are welcome only if they refrain from critical comments of viewing selection, and no talking. We have not figured out how to enhance the sound system yet, so we need complete quiet to hear what is going on.

Not much else to put here, just want to give a shout out to everyone in the USA to have a safe and fun Independence Day, tomorrow. In other words keep all your fingers if you are going to insist on blowing up the fire-works. We aren’t blowing any up, but from what happened last night, I am sure there will be plenty to watch and listen to tonight and tomorrow.

My daughter used to – and still very occasionally does – get word order mixed up, especially prepositions. Of course I can’t think of a single example at the moment, but the same kind of thing. I wish you a happy 4th of July. No fireworks here in Scotland, partly because it’s an ordinary day and partly because it doesn’t get dark til after 11 pm!

I thought my house was going to blow up last night!!! Why isn”t there any law and order in this town??? And why must I always be living next to the chaos??? Some people have no respect for the privacy and quiet of others!! Needless to say, I was NOT happy and I am sure that it will go on again tonight and tomorrow night and Sunday night!! Lord have mercy! Happy 4th to you all and Happy Canada Day on the first.

I would love to hear from you, so go ahead, comment!
