Today was quite an adventure. We left Linton at 7:30 am for the State Class B Indoor Track and Field Meet in Fargo. It is called state because it is open to everyone in the state and most of the big names were there. For us it was a chance to showcase a few athletes, and we were impressed with their efforts.
Here is how it broke down. I will post students by year and initials along with their efforts.
On the boys’ side we had: Jp12 was 1st in triple jump 42’4″; 3rd high jump 5’10”; 3rd 60 high hurdles 9.18, RS12 7th in 1600 time of 5:02.75, for the girls: RU11 was 3rd in 800 run 2:42.38; CG9 2nd in triple jump 33′ 10″ and 5th in the 60 meters with an 8.42; MP9 was 12th in 200 with 29.45; and BVl9 threw the shot put 20’6″ a good day especially after the start we had.
The heater wasn’t working very well on the minibus so fortunately most athletes had blankets to keep the chill out. It wasn’t super cold, but there is still snow on the ground in Jamestown. We stopped there for gas and late breakfast. RS12 figured out how to crank up the heat. By the time we made Valley City, we. Knew something bad was happening. We got to a dealership and parents took all athletes and 2 coaches on b the meet. When they finally chef it they found a broken hose after it eas fixed,. After that we thought all was clear.
As we were heading to Fargo, Jessica called to say she was headed there to take Tony to the hospital there. He ended up in surgery to remove some abscesses teeth. He was to be out for the night in intensive care. Yikes! We are praying for his full and speedy recovery. Just goes to show you never know what is around the corner. Take care and stay safe. We made it home by 10 pm in some icky weather, but home to rest for tomorrow.
