Wedding Day

No pictures yet. Just let it suffice to say our part of the work is ended. We have prepared the venue and last night in the dark, we saved the Gazebo. Now it might have survived the rain without our help, but we couldn’t take a chance. After the rehearsal meal at my sister’s backyard, we decided to move to my house for a fire pit and some SomeMores, or in my case roasted marshmallows. I don’t really care for the chocolate in that recipe, I guess I am just weird.

It was close to 2a.m. when I finally went to sleep in Paulina’s room. It wasn’t a good sleep, and I may need to rethink where I will sleep tonight, but that was about all there was at the time. A few of us were up around 7:30. Victoria made pancakes and waffles, I had my toast and coffee on the porch. Eventually the rest of the world woke and at one time or another we had everyone except the bridal party here at the house.

I did remember my big task and I will take a picture of it later, I had to tie up the little chokecherry bush which is laden with berries thank you very much, so the bride can walk in the path she has chosen. I can’t help but be weirded out by the phrase about choosing a path because of the story line on Young and the Restless. Anyway, the bush was tied up then I came home to put all of the creatures back out in their place in the garden. Each time a storm threatens we haul in all of the terracotta plant holders and the swans and all of that, so today was put it all back morning.

Terra cotta planters have been expanding. The rectangle and round ones are filled with herbs. We shall see how that works.

Later Adie called to ask about lunch. By the time we were finished, Adie made a pot of Knepfla soup and James and Nate grilled some hamburgers and German sausage some from Wishek and some from the local store, and we cooked up some chicken nuggets and everyone ate. Oh ya, I finally cut up the watermelon. It was a good time. All our children and families, my sisters, Melissa and Adie and families and brother Adam and Flossy and even Uncle Gene was here. Let’s just say the house was full. Now the kitchen is all cleaned again, and we are slowly getting ready for the wedding pictures. We are supposed to be in this family picture thing around 4 ish.

Oh woops, biggest news of the day and I left it until now. Nate graciously agreed to put together James’ new grill. It is wonderful and that is what they used to do the grilling. Nate even showed James what some of the fancy bells and whistles are for. It started as Nate putting it together and pretty soon James was there assisting and after a bit it included Steve. Tony and Adam and Don came and went and even Gene looked on. We were getting to the point that we were making jokes on the deck about how many men it takes to set a grill together. I am glad they were there to do it because that is one time, I am not interested in the puzzle workings of setting something together.

It is currently raining. Not a storm, but a steady heavy rain. The chairs are on the venue and the Gazebo is in place, but the ground is saturated and the clouds have set in. Not sure what is in that plans for the outdoor event. Will keep you posted.
