Memorial Day 2014

Fern peony is about to bloom. James and Paulina mowed around the peonies so at least that looks good.

Today is Memorial Day. I am semi-resting, but still have laundry to finish for the houses. The renters will be back later. We also need to finish putting in the window air units, that is such a pain.

Ain’t am sitting on the porch with Roger and a neighbor cat trying to get this posted, but so many interruptions. Need to work on writing a list of to dos. One for this week, one for “before conference trip,” and the third for before the wedding. By the time they r done summer will nearly be over, yikes not time for snow already.

Here are pictures from today, hey I am doing this with the mini, thanks family!

Here are a few pictures of the yard. Everything was mowed and nice and basically overnight there are dandelions all over and the grass is over the ankle shooting for the knees. First winter did not end now it looks like we will be spending the whole summer on the mower.

At least the growth is also in the flower beds, but I may need to rethink the early bulbs if track will continue to interfere with weeding them before things get out of hand. I see it is already more than I can do and tomorrow I will be in the office once again not in the garden.

Lilac bushes were touched by frost, but the other flowering trees are quite fragrant right now.

Pear trees do not look so good. We should have planted them earlier to get them started before we left in the heat.

Sonia was inside briefly today. When she got back out, she headed over the dike to find us some supper. I am sure she will return with something that she believes will keep us from starving, bless her efforts!

This is the life. Winter and cold, summer and heat ….I did enjoy our 3 weeks of spring between heating and cooling! My garden needs weeded, the lawn needs mowed, the dog to the vet, and sewing still calls me loudest.

Love the green! 106 degrees tomorrow and 107 on Wed. Guess I am coming home at the right time. Looks like it’s been hot at home, too. Not looking forward to the humidity but, then again, maybe I am. Happy Memorial Day!!
