Christmas Eve: Silent Night

Today Paulina and I did lots and lots of baking and candy making. Pictures coming at a later date. At 6 p.m. we packed up ourselves and headed with Adie and Annebelle to Wishek to Bruce and Melissa’s church to watch Carson and Elisabeth in their Christmas program. It was a candlelit service with Silent Night the song ender. And in true Wishek tradition, the fourth verse was sung in German. I enjoyed sitting next to Annebelle for the service, especially the final song.

As we drove home, it began snowing. When we arrived in Herreid it was all clear, but by the time we unloaded from the car and let the cats out for a short romp, it was snowing here. I guess that is what happens when it warms up. Today it was 27 degrees above zero, which means about a 50+ degree difference from yesterday. Probably a good thing that the temperature doesn’t usually change that much in the summer. Anyway, we were pretty happy about it.

I will leave you tonight with the thoughts from Luke chapter 2. “In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. … ” And as is spoken by Linus in the Peanuts Christmas story, “And that’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.” May all of you have a very Blessed Christmas, and mostly may you remember to keep the reason for the season with you each and every day through the rest of the year and into the New Year.
