Forgone trip, plans changed

Today we were headed to Hebron to take Victoria her plants and a few odds and ends we found left behind. About the time we hit Bismarck, she called to say they were on their way, too. We ended up having lunch at McDonald’s where Jaxon traded in his Grouchy Smurf for the Brainy one. All the while my Grouchy was safely in my purse. He also ended up getting a Vanity Smurf from a lady who found it left in a both. I, of course, rather than feeling great about his fortune was sad for whoever lost it. I am sort of weird that way.

Anyway, our original plan was to stop off and get a computer for Paulina for school then head to Hebron. We managed to pick up the computer. As we did so, we opened an account in her name, but James had to co-sponsor it. Of all things, they wouldn’t approve it instantly. James was pretty miffed since his credit rating is really high. He wanted to cancel the whole thing, but I wouldn’t let him since just the application gave her a $10 discount. I know that isn’t much, but it could buy her a discounted mouse down the road.

Some of what we had for Victoria was in a cooler, and since she didn’t have another to transfer it to, we ended up leaving the cooler with her, so we didn’t get much in the way of food that needed cooling. We managed to get all of her plants into the back of their pickup as well as a box of miscellaneous and a few of Jaxon’s sandbox toys. They needed some parts for their mower and a few more pieces of flooring to finish off the kitchen and hallway. So sad that they tore out that 1960’s linoleum.

I was a bit excited to see how it is all shaping up, but by the time we ate and shopped, we realized it would be really late when we got back, so we just transferred the items and headed home. I am happy to be back. Something about that town exhausts me. I think it is the heat of the concrete and the throng of the masses. Alright, I know that I am going a bit overboard here. It is a big city compared to our hamlet on the prairie where we live, but it isn’t that large. It does drain me though.

I am having a hard time realizing that just last Saturday we were all together at the zoo and I was dragging through the day. In fact James was ready to sign me up for a physical, but I was fine the rest of the week at home. Something about the green grass, the porch and the garden that really makes me feel better. Well, I will add some photos to the top of this post and head off to watch my new Saturday night soap. I watch Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove on the Hallmark Chanel.

The only reason I miss TV is it would be nice to watch the Hallmark channel. I didn’t know a thing about these Smurfs. Grouchy or Brainy. Hmmm. Sounds like the seven dwarfs of our childhood.
