Today was the final home track meet in Linton. I am so glad it is over, but for me it isn’t really over. Thank goodness that Victoria is here. I think that the good Lord sent those house issues to her and Nate because he understood just how badly her old parents needed help. She came to track practice and helped the youngsters learn how to do the starting blocks. She learned those things before she was even in school. She used to come to track practice in Montpelier when I was coaching. She started the sprint relays in high school and they did fairly well (second in state with one relay one year).

Anyway it was pretty interesting how the athletes responded to her. The 7th grade girls thought she was great and even some of the boys that don’t like anything listened to her and took the advice and we saw the results already today. Heck one of the boys placed in three races today and he rarely ever placed. She corrected his blocks, he had the legs in the wrong order, front and back. He practiced a few times then told me it feels so much better. Yikes.

It was also a great day for Elisabeth and Paulina. Paulina won the discus and was second in the shot. Elisabeth hit about 38 points. I think she had three firsts and a second, but I am not positive. Anyway that is what … Never mind I have the official sheets in front of me, I will look it up. Elisabeth: 1st 100 meters, 2nd 200 meters, 1st 400 meters, 1st long jump. The race she lost was to Cassie Gefroh of Linton. Cassie’s dad was one of my mother’s favorite students at Odessa when my mother helped as an aid in that school.

I would have been finished up a few hours ago and I would have had a better check on the results, but the computer program decided it was in over load and it erased the boys’ jr high results half way through the track meet. Alex was working the computer and I had to restart that part of the meet, which meant all the way back to entering rosters. He started over on those results while trying to finish up the other meets. There were 10 sheets left when I got home to finish it. When I went to open up the results, I found another snafu in the varsity boys’ results and ended up redoing that entire meet from the beginning. Thank goodness Paulina and Victoria took turns reading the results to me so all I had to do was key it in.

I should do up the team stats for tomorrow, but without a printer to follow, it am not too interested in doing it right now. I think go to bed, get some sleep and start again in the morning. I would like to run to Bismarck with Victoria, but we should be back by noon and someone needs to check on Audrey (the lab sitting in Herreid) yikes, always something.
