I just wanted to post a little update about the day with Jessica. Paulina ended up going with me. I wasn’t feeling so hot on Tuesday or Wednesday and I was actually a bit concerned about making it through the day. On Wednesday night, Paulina asked if she could go along as the driver. Well, she had a quiz in POD, which she hoped to take in the morning before we left, but as it turns out, she will be taking it tomorrow. Anyway, besides being the driver for the mother, we had her take some pictures. Here are a few photos from today.
The photo above was a shot of her before we even talked to her. She was busy talking to other representatives. About the time that we had her attention and were sitting down to talk and wait for the caucus to start, Jess was pulled aside for a photo shoot with former US Representative Earl Pomeroy. Here is the photo we got of the situation.
After the photo session, we went upstairs to a committee room to the Democratic caucus. There she introduced a father who wanted to present his case to someone. It was interesting as was the rest of the day. So, here is my low down of what we experienced. At the end of the caucus session, the group celebrated Jessica’s birthday with cupcakes and by singing Happy Birthday to her. Jessica had introduced us and said we were from Linton, and as we were walking out, one of the members asked Paulina if she knows Dan Carr (POD teacher and Boys’ Basketball Coach) apparently this man (Bob Hunskor from Newburgh) placed second as a coach to Carr’s first in back to back years during the late 1980s. Bob told Paulina to tell Carr, Hello. We also met a young lady who is the granddaughter of Cecile Jarhaus (not sure I spelled that first name correctly) who used to own the Emmons County Record in Linton. Next the woman who sits beside Jessica asked me if I knew the Purinton family. Apparently Jim’s brother Wayne is her Pastor. By this time, I was on over load and couldn’t talk to anyone any more.
When the House reconvened, we were able to sit on the floor with her. Paulina was her guest and she farmed me out to her friends; I sat beside one and wore the badge of the other (You figure out that one.). Paulina was even able to push the voting button a few times. We heard debate about a bill that was supposed to be real simple, but turned into a big deal. It had to do with allowing insurance companies to do paperwork in the language of the person buying the insurance. Some were against the idea of non-English paperwork. Technically the bill was a request of the insurance companies, who were already performing the service, but wanted protection that stated that the English version was the legal document. Personally, I think the presentation of the bill was the confusion more than the bill. At the end of the session, we had a photo together then went out for lunch.
All in all, it was a pretty fun day. Now if the weather would just stay above the zero mark and the wind would stay low, I think that my sore throat would maybe go away. Hope you enjoyed your day Jessica. And, keep up the good work. So far everyone seems to think you are a positive part of the session. Oh little do they know about the real you. HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAA!

By the way, the flowers in that last photo were sent by her father. He always knew how to keep a woman happy with flowers.

Thanks! I am so happy that you had fun. Thank you so much for the presents, lunch, the card and taking the time to come up and hang out with your boring old daughter. Love you!

There is nothing boring about what you do. I am still waiting to be your appointments secretary.
