First Friday in 2013

Today is the first Friday in 2013, and guess what, we are going to a basketball game. Rah! Rah! I am so excited I could burst. Actually, I don’t mind going to the game, and I want to support the young people out there playing, but one would think that a person would get past some of that some time in their life.

Last night James and I helped with concessions at the final home wrestling match of the season, so that is over. For those of you wondering why I included the word home, I am wondering too. Really we wouldn’t be helping at an away match now would we. Sometimes I wonder where the logic goes in the writing.

Right now I am listening to children clomping up and down the steps as they enter the building from recess. The door to outside hits right on the landing and some go up to their classrooms and some come down. Being the first room on the bottom floor, you really hear the noise of the whole group.

With the winter weather and the snow and the cold, it seems that some of the students barely get bundled before it is time to return into the building to unbundle.

A few days ago I said, See you later, alligator,” to a kindergarten boy, and his reply was, “My name isn’t alligator.” Wow, sounds like a good funny, but it was also a great reminder that not everyone is exposed to our crazy saying and euphemisms. Anyway, now the little guy understands the “See ya later, alligator,” stuff.

Really nothing else to say here. I can’t wait until tomorrow. We have nothing scheduled, nowhere to be, and I am looking forward to cleaning house, baking, cooking and maybe cleaning out my closet. Boy is life boring when you are looking forward to cleaning out a closet. Of course if you had a small little closet like I do in Linton, you would be happy to clean it out too.

Hope you all have a fun weekend. I look forward to reading about it.

I think you used the word “home” when describing the wrestling match to help your readers who aren’t into sports and may not know the difference. I, fortunately or unfortunately, have attended MANY sports events over the years, when our kids used to play and later when Barry is covering a game for the paper. After while, Crocodile!

I feel for your Barry. When I used to work for the local paper, my Aunt said my tombstone would read something about my meetings and ball games finally being over.
